What is COPPA?
COPPA is a United States federal law that places requirements on operators of websites and online services directed at children under 13, or that knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. It gives parents control over what information is collected from their children online.
How CoMath.ai Complies
- โParent-controlled accounts: Children cannot create their own CoMath.ai accounts. All accounts are created and managed by a parent or legal guardian who is 18 or older.
- โMinimal data collection: We only collect a child's first name, grade level, avatar choice, and test results โ nothing more than what is needed to operate the service.
- โNo advertising to children: We do not show targeted advertisements to children and do not share children's data with advertisers.
- โNo third-party tracking: We do not allow third-party companies to track children's activity on CoMath.ai.
- โSecure storage: All data is stored on Cloudflare's secure infrastructure with encryption in transit and at rest.
- โData deletion on request: Parents may request complete deletion of their child's data at any time by emailing [email protected].
- โNo public profiles: Children's profiles are private and not visible to other users or the public.
- โNo direct communication with children: We do not send emails or messages directly to children.
What Information We Collect About Children
- First name โ used to personalise the kid login experience
- Grade level โ used to generate age-appropriate AI tests
- Avatar choice โ an emoji selected by the child (e.g. ๐ฆ)
- 4-digit PIN โ stored encrypted, used for kid login only
- Test scores and results โ used to generate progress reports for parents
We do not collect: full legal name, address, phone number, photos, videos, audio, social media profiles, or any precise location data from children.
Parental Rights Under COPPA
As a parent or guardian, you have the right to:
- Review the personal information we have collected about your child
- Correct any inaccurate information
- Delete your child's personal information from our systems
- Refuse to permit further collection or use of your child's information
- Consent to collection without consenting to disclosure to third parties
To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected] from the email address associated with your parent account. We will respond within 2 business days.
AI Content and Children
CoMath.ai uses AI to generate educational content. Our AI prompts are designed to produce age-appropriate, educational material. However, as AI-generated content depends on the underlying model, parents are encouraged to occasionally review the tests their children are taking. Report any concerns to [email protected] immediately.
Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to how we handle children's data, we will notify parents by email before the changes take effect and will obtain fresh consent if required by COPPA.
